Jailer is a 2023 mass action entertainer directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, featuring Superstar Rajinikanth, Vinayagan, Ramya Krishnan in lead roles and Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff making cameo appearances.

Jailer is an out-and-out Superstar Rajinikanth showcase, with him at the center of the movie. The film revolves around the investigation of his lost son and dealing with the group responsible, all while they remain unaware of his true identity and connections. What makes Jailer a blockbuster, paisa vasool entertainer is its racy screenplay and well-placed shots that elevate the superstar. The story isn’t entirely new, and we’ve seen movies with similar storylines recently. What sets Jailer apart is Nelson’s treatment. He added his special magic into Jailer as well. Nelson’s core strength lies in his ability to portray characters in top stylish with a touch of dark humor. When you have a screen presence as commanding as Superstar Rajinikanth, nothing less than extraordinary scenes are expected, and that’s what makes this movie special.

This marks a perfect comeback for Superstar Rajinikanth after a minor setback in his recent movies. It’s a feast for his fans who have enjoyed his iconic mass movies like Baasha, Padayappa, Annamalai, Petta, and many others. He proves why he’s a superstar and number one, capable of creating moments that generate goosebumps. Vinayagan deserves a big applause for his portrayal of the villain character with utmost perfection. Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff play more than just small cameos; Nelson has given them impactful scenes in the movie. With all the mass moments combined, Jailer is undoubtedly a fantastic theatrical experience with some amazing high points.

Anirudh’s music is a significant strength of Jailer, elevating the movie by at least 30%. The song Hukkum serves as the perfect anthem for the superstar and his fans, creating a significant impact in the film.

The movie is technically brilliant, with all technical aspects contributing to the overall quality. However, on the downside, the second half couldn’t match the impact of the first half. The comedy sequences, including the heist scenes in the second half, act as speed bumps and slightly drag the movie. But the climactic mass scene, involving the superstars, changes the overall fate of the film, ensuring a blockbuster.

Audiences can expect more surprises! And Thalaivar, once again delivering a blockbuster, asks – “Indha aattam podhuma kolantha?”
