C U Soon Review

C U Soon is a 2020 Romantic, Thriller, written and directed by Mahesh Narayanan, starring Fahadh Faasil, Roshan Mathew and Darshana Rajendran in lead roles. C U Soon is a movie which is shot completely on the iPhone. The movie got released directly on Amazon Prime Video.

The movie talks about the relationship between Jimmy (Roshan) and Anumol (Darshana), who got connected by the online dating platform Tinder. Fahadh as Kevin is a cousin of Jimmy, who is an IT professional, and a hacker. Rest of the movie shows the hidden problems in Anumol’s life that leads to a big problem for Roshan, and how they solve the issues with the help of Kevin.

Almost more than 85% of the conversation and scenes shown in the movie is virtual, through chats and video call between the characters. The writer and director of the movie Mahesh Narayanan shot the movie without any lag or any distractions. Every scene in the movie is connected and impressive. Fahadh Faasil, the rough and tough technology geek was simply amazing as usual. Also, Roshan and Darshana as the other important lead did their part perfectly. As this genre is experimental to Malayalam cinema, C U Soon was a brilliant idea to utilize the available technologies with minimal cost to create amazing content. This stress the fact that there’s no stop for art and creation.

Technically, the movie had all the elements. As the movie is entirely shot in iPhone, we never feel any issue with the way they shot the movie. Being a movie which has many scenes that include chats and almost conveyed through a computer screen, it was very easy for the viewers to understand the conversations. Kudos to the cinematographers and the editor for sharpening the perfection. The background score is another plus of C U Soon. The BGM perfectly blends with the movie theme.

C U Soon is definitely a good watch. More than a feature film, we would recommend you to watch it as a short movie or a series. The movie talks about a serious issue faced by Jobseekers from India in abroad.
